Born and raised in the Netherlands, Liz DeVries grew up with a love for gardening, traveling and the outdoors. This love of the world would take her on extensive travels throughout North America, including a year living in California and several years living and teaching in Kingston in the late 1960s. After returning home to the Netherlands to marry, Liz found she missed Kingston and Canada terribly and returned with her new family, as soon as circumstances permitted, in 1979. Although she had always kept it as a hobby, as she neared retirement Liz began to paint seriously, using mainly acrylics and oils. Her love of the pristine and untouched Canadian outdoors fuels her passion to capture the beauty of all this country’s seasons and colours. She is a self-taught artist who continually seeks ways to build upon her skills.
